Known as one of the most important vintage wristwatches in the World, Aspery had quite the buzz to it when it was sold for $3.9m in Geneva. Today we shall have a look at the Most Expensive Watch Auctioned in 2018.
This piece, known simply as ‘The Asprey’ is an exceptional watch in every meaning of the word. It was originally manufactured all the way back in 1952, and it was originally sold in 1956. The last time anyone had seen this watch was in 2006 where it was sold at an auction for 2.2 million Swiss Francs. Ever since that event, this watch became a legend in this industry.

Patek Philippe’s reference 2499 (this reference making it often described as ‘the ultimate Patek’) had only 349 pieces available in 35 years. Indeed we can see why this was the most complicated Patek Philippe sold by the London based jeweler.
The dial is double signed by both the manufacture and Asprey. We can notice that the case is stamped with London hallmarks as well as the date letter for 1956. The inside case back also bears London import marks as well as the Asprey stamp.
