The independent Swiss Watch Brand MB&F has unveiled one new product: the Legacy Machine No. 2 Watch. The catch? The purple color!
This is an unusual choice for a dial color, especially on a $159,000 watch. However purple is a perfect color alluding to royalty. As a matter of fact, the purple dial achieved via a Chemical Vapor Deposit process and hand lacquering.

The watch was created as a limited edition of just 12 pieces. The moving parts of this unique piece were by watchmakers Jean-François Mojon of Chronode and Kari Voutilainen for MB&F as a homage to the finest watchmakers in history and to Philippe Dufour the creator of the first watch with dual regulators and a differential. It offers 45 hours of power reserve and consists of 241 part as well as of 44 jewels.
As a matter of fact, the LM2 has two dual regulators whose energy is transmitted by a central planetary differential to one single gear train. This differential transfers the power to each of the regulators in orderto receive the timing rates from each balance, and also to to transmit the average rate of the two regulators in order to accurately predict time.

Dual regulators date all the way back to the 18th century in a time when watches weren’t that precise. It was a feature which was progressively perfected by several watchmakers, among them Ferdinand Berthoud and Abraham-Louis Breguet. When Dufour launched the watch Duality in 1996 a significant advancment was made due to the fact that the two regulators were now united by a differential instead of having two separate movements, something which meant a better accuracy in predicting time.
