Union

Restaurant Union is is a touch of cosmopolitan city in Basel, this cosmopolite restaurant is a perfect meeting place during the Watch and Jewellery Show – Baselworld from 27 March to 3 April. The interior is a feast for the eyes: dark green walls, copper lamps, long wooden tables, and an unforgettable bar entirely covered with a copper coat! Acqua

The trendy Acqua is a renovated old water plant and easily Basel’s hottest ticket. The key is to go for lunch, where 20 Swiss francs get you all the pasta and wine you can consume. Lounge with comfortable seating, soft music, dimmed lights and freedom for your head- Italian spirits are fizzing where once the old water works were located. The rooms kept in their originality, are merging industrial design with the coziness of a fireplace. The interior by the Swiss artist Heinz Julen is inimitably orchestrated creating a place to linger.

“L’appetito è per lo stomaco quello che l’amore è per il cuore” apprehends the stomach as a gateway to the heart and the Acqua’s culinary heartbeat is the open kitchen, where tender fillet of beef are tamed on the burning flames, showing what is being cooked and how. Fresh, honest and good – no ordinary «à la carte», but an exciting menu selection is offered. One can take a short trip toItaly during lunchtime with daily changing Pasta, Risotto or a “secondo” – served with an Tuscan antipasto and the “vino da tavola” and water included in the price. In the evening there’s a selection of “antipasti”, “primi”, “secondi” and “dolce” one can assemble to a menu: this journey to Italy works miracles for stomach, body & soul!
